Kaargil Girl

"Kargil Girl" is an autobiography of Guljan Saxena, the First Lady who joined the Indian Air force. This book has been transformed as a movie and released in Netflix due to Covid-19.
A girl who always wanted to fly the planes since her childhood undergoes multiple obstacles due to the stereotype in male dominated society like India. When she was a child and traveling in the plane, she wanted to see outside through window. But her brother doesn't let her watch outside occupying the the window seat. When an air hostess saw her crying, she took her to the cockpit where she was asked by a pilot "would you like to fly planes?" The seed of her dream start germinating from that day. She studied hard to become the pilot. Her father was always supportive to her drams, but her mother and brother were against of her dream. They were thinking that girls were not to fly the plane. It's only man's job.
Guljan Saxena applied after she completed high school. But that time the education requirements to be a pilot changed. She was asked to complete twelfth class. When she graduated the 12th grade with distinction and goes to the school, they required the diploma graduation. Then she studied hard and applied for the training, she went through physical fitness test. After completing all the training, her application was refused on the reason of permanent disability. She was told that she was two KG overweight and one feet short. She was rejected. At this point she almost gave up her dream. Her father was not ready to give up at this point. He convinced her to follow some rules to lose the weight giving example of a great star who lost weight significantly. Guljan Saxena started running with har father, gave up sweets and high carbohydrates and lose weight on the given time. Finally, she was selected by Indian Air force. This was the happiest moment in her life. However, there were so many obstacles in the camp. There was no female toilets. They said it was the place only made for the boys not for the girls. She missed training due to late while changing the uniforms. When she managed to be on time, the trainer refused to train her pretending that he was sick and so on. Other male cadets used to have vulgar party at the night. All the male cadets showing disrespect and doubting on her ability. However, one of the senior officer took her on the training and noticed that she was a better students than others.
She was offered briefing to the army cadets. On the very day she was insulted replacing her briefing with the male cadet and also asking her to join the fist fight. This incident was unbearable to her. Then she resigned from the position and went back home. His father was not happy with her action. He encouraged her to return to the post. As she returned to her post, the war between in and Pakistan was started. She was sent to the war of Kargil. She successfully rescued the armies who were wounded in the war. Later she was awarded with a national award.
