When I was a child like you
I never fight upright
I played a game
under the tree, up the hill
with the stone and the mud
I made a cannal from the river
down the land
I made the farm of paddy
so I can plant the rice
It was so fun
my hands were filthy with dirt
clothes were full of mud
I ran like a horse
with no control of man
having so much fun in the wild
sometime I would climb the tree
hanging on the branch to branch like a monkey
my dad would call me the donkey
mom would say' I will not wash your clothes'
I ran down the town with muddy clothes
It was so much fun
So I did run and run
A teacher found me on the way
what a surprise I said
He looked me like I was a dirty bug
And did not talk to me
I said 'thank you'
And went down the river to swim
I had no swim suits
I put off the muddy clothes
and jumped into the river
I swam and swam for the whole day
until the moon peeped from the sky
I was little shy
I scared of the the boys at the bay
they giggled
I said 'no way'
They stole my clothes and ran away
I came off the river with no clothes on
I cried like a hell
I am sure I scared the birds in the bush
When the dark vail the road
I walked up the hill
I saw the girls giggling on the side
A kind farmer met me on the road
Checking if I was a mad
He gave me his pants
I was like a scarecrow in the field
I saw children running aways calling me the ghost
When I was home at night
my mum screamed 'ghost'
my dad 'appeared like a statue
looked and looked
and gave me a slap on the cheek
who are you?
I said 'who is who?'
