Year End Diary of 2021

The year 2020 ended with more fear and little hope. Novel coronavirus ( covid-19) shook the world and created havoc in the healthcare system. Covid -19 first started in December 2019. But it was declared as a pandemic in March 2020. Since then life was lived under constant fear and uncertainty.

As we've just moved to a new place, we had to do a lot of things to shape our career. I had started a new job, Sharda was under employment insurance. Kids were in school and everything was just new for us. It was just a beginning

When pandemic hit the world so brutally, it shocked us like it already did to millions of people all around the world. I also stayed home quitting the job due to pandemics. I can say due to the fear of pandemic.

As I moved from Alberta to Toronto, I had a plan to start a new business in the restaurant field with a partner. First of all, I and Raghu Nath Dhakal met Sitaram dai and discussed how to start a new restaurant. He encouraged us with the motivational approach. He was also ready to work as a partner.

Then we started to look after the business to buy. But it wasn't that easy to find the location and the good business to take over. On the other hand, Sitaram dai wasn't much interested in looking for the business. It was a mixed experience for all of us.

In January, I met with another friend Ishhor, who was had been working as  a chef in one of the Indian restaurants. After a short meeting at Tim-Hortons, we agreed to search a restaurant. We found one in Danforth road. The location was great, but it has to be improved for the better business. The renovation cost would be higher. We talked with Hari KC who was also interested in opening his own business. He was my college friend.

Then we all three partners were ready to work on the mission. We talked to a Nepali lawyer whose office was in Scarborough. We registered a company named 'Fishtail Investors Inc.'

We also put offer for the restaurant. As we estimated the total cost of renovation and running the business, it would jump over 150k. Then we changed our mind and withdrew the offer. After that we were looking for other restaurants. Before we materialize our plan, the pandemic hit the world. Covid- 19 pushed the restaurants into lockdown. The restaurants only started delivery and take outs. We stopped venturing further. But later Ishor bought a restaurant with another partner is running.

It was a complete chaos when hopelessness and fear triggered.

I took off from the job for three months. During those three months, I continued writing articles in the blog. I was still suffering from insomnia. I practiced yoga and some other breathing exercises. More then anything else my obsession with writing relieved little bit. After three months I returned to the job. Worked for another two months. Anita started school and also my kids started the online class. When the work was slow, the owner decided to cut the business. I asked for laid off.

Then I only worked in the weekend. I applied for regular EI as well.

I read books, but most of them I finished half. 'The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying' , 'The Emotional Freedom', 'The Magnificent Mind' were the most powerful book I've read. The Magnificent  Mind' actually helped me to understand my mind and the problem I was facing. After reading this book, I really improved my sleeping habit and thinking pattern.

I've also read Nepali books 'Yogmaya' and  'Dropadi'. Both of them were written on the theme of female characters. This year,  I listened many Nepalis novel including BP Koirala's 'Sumnimaa'. I watched 'Dharmakshatra series in Netflix which broadened my knowledge on the Mahabharata.

In 2020 I focused on my writing and publishing the articles in different digital medias. I published a dozens of stories in Setopati.com , Nepaltouch.com, Samundrapari.com , Gaausahar.com and Saahityasangrahalaya.com. It was a wonderful experience with writing which really healed my stress and anxiety.

With the discovery of vaccine to combat with corona virus, 2021 started with new hope and excitement. However a recent development of new string of virus and it's fast spreading  nature, Ontario and other parts of the country is still facing the dilemma of life and death.

Hope is the only support to walk further. And we are doing our best to keep hope with us.
