Travel Memoir
A few elderly male scattered at the back of two high rise apartments with variety of merchandise like clothing, cookeries and shoe polishing stuffs. In about hundred meters a shopkeeper had all his fruits and vegetables on the walkway. This place was was Downtown, Toronto.
After breakfast Raghu and I decided to stroll around the CN tower and lake Ontario. Those places were close to our location almost ten minutes walk away. As we came out of the apartment we noticed the above mentioned activities. It was a kind of new experience for me as I haven’t seen any outdoor shops at Edmonton. We walked down the Young Street, one of the busiest street in Toronto. People from multi nationality were rushing all direction. We passed through the subway station at the back of CN tower. Erected to the sky, CN tower looked a historic identity to Toronto city. Tourists of different colours taking the snapshots as a travel memoir. Some pair of love birds were strolling comparing their depth of love with the height of tower. We took some pictures standing on the bottom of it, but it was had to capture the tower on the background without tilting the camera. Next to CN tower was the Rogers centre, a huge hockey arena displaying wrinkles and freckles on the surface.
It was early April. Trees were naked and grass grey. City construction crew were seen everywhere on and off the street. We crossed some blocks down to lake Ontario. Windchill kept local people off the shore. I could see some nature hunters and first time visitors around the area. Water was clean and clear like a glass. Boats were hooked on the shore. Those skyscrapers on the background of lake Ontario looked gorgeous. They were shining with the pride of high tech architecture of modern era; symbol of modern civilization. We snapped few pictures keeping in mind that they would be great posting on the facebook wall.
We strolled for about an hour and went back to the apartment for lunch. After lunch we hired a Uber to go Brampton to meet Rames Rana, a friend of mine. I wanted to see the place too how it looked like. An Afgani Uber driver drove us to Rames Rana’s home. He was easy and frank person who was sharing his experience with the city. Rames Rana was at home to welcome us a guest. We shared our past days, struggle and outcomes. He was doing better working with real state market. He owned a decent home in a nice community. He also told me that he was currently renting two rooms; basement and upper floor. I inquired how it would be if I buy a rental property. He suggested as a friend all the possibilities.
Then he took us to a house which he had to show to his client. An old duplex was no more impressive comparing to the price. After showing the house he drove off to the station where we waited for the bus going to the Toronto city. After we purchased ticket we had to wait almost an hour to the bus to come. After an hour we arrived to the Union station where we purchased a ticket for Scarborough. As soon as we reached to Scarborough, one of the station we realized that we went to the wrong address. I was supposed to visit Sampurna and Yam Basnet. Their address was closer to the Victoria station, but we went far North. I took a cab back to Victoria. Sampurna was waiting for us desperately. We had dinner. Yam came home around 10:45 pm. After dinner Yam drove us off to the apartment at downtown.
We went to be around 2:00 in the morning.
Day - Two
I woke up at 6 in the morning. It was too early because we went to the bed at 2 AM last night. I have a bad habit to wake up early in the morning whenever I go to the bed. I just laid on the bed until Raghu woke up. We had a plan to meet a few people who were supposed to come to Raghu's house. Nanda ram Ghimire called me in the morning and told me that he was coming to meet me around twelve. After we meet them at home, Raghu and I went to the shopping centre to purchase some gifts to my wife and kids. I wanted to buy some stuffs which has Toronto logo in it or it could be a souvenir. We went to the Young Street and browsed in different stores. We stopped on one of the corner store to look at some gift stuffs. The white girl on the counter assisted us while browsing, but I couldnt find anything. The lady looked frustrated and vending with us. She was complaining about the online marketing like amazon which ultimately hampered their business. "nobody is giving a fuck to the Torontonians", she said. We empathized with her pain and left the store. The weather was gray. Roads were full of traffic and pedestrians on the side walk. The skyscrapers were looming on the both sides of the road.
We walked faster to pick up Raghu's daughter from daycare and arrived at 5:30. After dinner we strolled down the Young street to catch up the night life. There were girls and boys in front of the clubs and bars. They were smoking and flirting in the open area. It was midnight, but people everywhere. Raghu looked for the board which he knew our destination, but he gave up finally saying that they have moved. Then we decided to go back to bed since it was already 1 am.
After two hours sleep I woke up at 3:45 am because I have to be in the airport at 5 am. I booked Uber and left home at 04:15 am. Since had already checked in online, I did not have to wait in the line. I had already paid for the bag online. The plane was flying from the Gate -4, so I headed to the Gate. On the way to the gate I bought a cup of coffee at Tim Horton waiting about 15 minutes on the line.
The plain took off at 07:00 AM.
