Life in Colors

"Life in Colours" sounds good to our senses. I believe in the colourful life and to add new colours I ventured to many places too. I don't think there is somebody who doesn't like the colourful life. But all colours have symbols: red, green, yellow, purple. In simple words, colourful life means life with various wonderful activities such as fun, love, romance, parties, tour, picnicking, girl friends, boy friends, success bla bla bla.
But i happened to see the event  named 'Life in Colours' which forced me too think seriously about the colourful life. Although there is a difference between these two sentences, but it sounds the same.
In my country we celebrate holy as a colour festival. We enjoy the festival putting colours to each other mostly among the friends and the known neighbours and relatives. Specially, adult groups walk along the street throwing colour at their encounters. Sometimes, it turns into a row when the matter of girls come front. Its becomes really hard for the girls to walk freely on the roads. They are not expected to come out of home and have fun with boys or strangers. There are two factors equally responsible behind this issue.
First, our society has shaped our mind in the way that girls are the products of pleasure for men. And second, our society expects them to be docile, demure  and humble. As a result, our society is so vulnerable that any time heinous crimes may occur.
Life in Colours an adults musical programme specially in the summer in the USA and Canada. The boys and girls mostly in the age group of 15 to 20/25 come to the event. They start with beers and paintings. The ratio of drinking, smoking and stripping off goes almost simultaneously. This can be a large group of people around 3000 to 10000. They were spreading colours to each other and dancing in the rhythm of intoxication. Boys and girls were equally participating in all types of activities. I saw a girl running, jumping, rolling on the ground in a frantic mood. The sexual activities seemed obvious and spontaneous. I didn't notice any kind of insecurity which used to in our country.
The girls and boys equally drank beers, smoked and went complete mad. The weather was chilly and i was putting a winter jacket. But these guys were almost in a T-shirt and shorts. Girls almost in panty and bra soaked in coloured water. But they were not feeling cold. I remembered Nietzsche's Apollonian and Dionysian sides of human being. Apollonian side being a dreaming state, full of illusions; and Dionysian being the state of intoxication, representing the liberations of instinct and dissolution of boundaries. In this mold, man appears as the satyr. He is the horror of the annihilation of the principle of individuality and at the same time someone who delights in its destruction. Both of these principles are meant to represent cognitive states that appear through art as the power of nature in man.
I saw them completely in the animalistic state. They were kissing, hugging, rubbing, flirting without caring the world around. The music was louder and the degree of intoxication was stronger. They were just completely dionysic.
Since i was born in another part of the planet and cultured in different way, it made me think about the future of my kids. I saw the face of my innocent son in the faces of teens who were transcending themselves in the world of wilderness. There was no shame, no hesitation, no fear of the family, no limitation. It was all spontaneous, spontaneous and spontaneous.
However, I found similarity between this event and the holy festival. Both are colour events. But we don't have such spontaneity. We can notice fear in the faces of girls, parents and society. We cant reach to the state of dionysic.  Nearly three thousand adults equal number of boys and girls gathered in one place, drank, but no molestation, or misbehaviour. They remained cool, calm, and disciplined following the AGLC rules and regulations.
I don't mean to promote what they were doing. But can't we build such a society where boys and girls equally participate in fun making events. No fear should surge in the faces of girls and their parents when they are out.
There are so many things that we can learn from our society. We fear of stripping off in the public. Boys and girls fear of kissing in the public. They respect the parental order in the home.
But why they do the bad things in the private. Hidden smoking, drinking, sex, drugs has been spreading like a cancer. It is better to be open than the close. Rape, intimidation, murder, kidnapping are common problems. We are living in the perpetual fear of insecurity in the social as well as individual level.
So, lets change our thinking, change our society. Lets make the society wher boys and girls can live together freely and the society look at them equally.
